Loose Lumber Kills Crew Member of Passing Train

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A shifting load of lumber on a Conrail freight train sent several boards flying through the windshield of a passing Amtrak train Friday, killing an assistant engineer, Amtrak officials said. They said no one else on the train, which was bound for Chicago, was injured.
