Monte Vista 15, Mt. Miguel 3--Winning pitcher Vern Mullis (4-3) was three for three with three runs and an RBI, and Mike Cone was three for four with three runs and four RBIs for Monte Vista (16-7-2). Mt. Miguel is 3-23, 0-8.
Grossmont 2-A League
Grossmont 8, El Cajon Valley 7--Jim Early hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to give Grossmont (15-8-1, 4-1) a come-from-behind victory over El Cajon Valley (5-18, 0-5). John Tatum (3-0) pitched the final four innings for the victory and went three for three with four RBIs.
City Eastern League
Mira Mesa 7, Serra 0--Travis Arnold (9-2) threw his second one-hitter of the season to shut out host Serra (6-18, 2-12). The Conquistadors’ Rod Alexander had a single to right center in the fourth to spoil Arnold’s no-hit bid. Ricky Hastey was one for one with two walks and two RBIs to pace No. 8 Mira Mesa (20-4, 12-2), which managed only four hits.
Point Loma 7, Morse 6--Trailing, 6-1, with two outs in the fourth, Mike Williams hit a three-run double to rally the Pointers (7-19, 3-11). Brett Callan (two for three) then drove in Williams with a single to make it 6-5. Callan later knocked in the tying run in the bottom of the sixth. Larry Kirkpatrick drove in the winning run, Callan, with a double. Morse is 11-14, 5-9.
Madison 8, Patrick Henry 3--Al Mendiola hit a bases-empty home run in the sixth for No. 10 Madison (19-6, 11-3). Teammate Mike Jones went two for three with three RBIs. Patrick Henry dropped to 16-11, 9-5.
City Central League
St. Augustine 20, Christian 3--Catcher Mike Mossuto hit two home runs, a double and a single for six RBIs for visiting St. Augustine (14-10, 9-5). Brad Gennaro and Jason Alcoser also hit homers for St. Augustine. Mark Jackson (7-1) was the winner. Christian is 6-15, 4-10.
Hoover 17, Lincoln 5--Albert Canedo hit a three-run homer and had four RBIs for Hoover (14-10-1, 9-5). Teammates Felipe Preciado (one on) and Roger Blake (none on) also homered. Lincoln dropped to 4-18, 2-12.
City Western League
Mission Bay 16, University City 1--Sean Darrock hit a grand slam in the first for No. 2 Mission Bay (21-3, 12-1). Teammate Guillermo Aviles hit a solo homer in the third. Jim Thomas (9-1) was the winner and went three for five with an RBI. University City’s run in the fourth came on an error. The Centurions dropped to 7-15, 5-8.
USDHS 12, Kearny 1--Gavin Millay (6-3) held Kearny to three hits and went two for four with two RBIs for No. 5 USDHS (19-4, 11-2). Steve Walker went two for four with three RBIs, and Tony Moeder went two for two with two RBIs for USDHS. Kearny dropped to 4-20, 2-11.
Nonleague
Granite Hills 13, Valhalla 6--David Justice hit a three-run homer in the fifth, and Robby Christian was three for five, scored four runs and had a stolen base for Granite Hills (15-11). Brandt Glasener (2-2) struck out nine and walked three for the victory. Valhalla dropped to 11-14-1.
