Orange Coast Women Keep Lead in Swim Meet
The Orange Coast College women’s team continued to dominate Friday in the second day of the state swim meet at Diablo Valley College.
Karen Paulitsahek of Orange Coast won the 50-yard butterfly in 26.85 seconds as the Pirates finished the second day of the three-day tournament with 321 points. Golden West is second with 228.50.
Elfira Nasution of Chaffey set a national community college record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:05.24. She broke the record of 2:08.75 set by Michelle Amen of Florida in 1983.
Carolyn Bentley of Golden West won the 50 breaststroke in 31.57.
In the men’s competition, Diablo Valley leads Orange Coast, 266-255.
Nate Kinney of Orange Coast won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:40.40. Teammate Brian Kingsfield was second in 1:40.70.
