Chatsworth Cyclist 38th in Tour de Trump

John Tomac of Chatsworth placed 38th and David Brinton of North Hollywood finished 88th as the $250,000 Tour de Trump, the richest bicycle race in U. S. history, began Friday with a two-mile prologue in Albany, N. Y.
Tomac was timed in four minutes, 48.76 seconds and Brinton in 5:07.66 over a course that took the 114 riders past the governor’s mansion to the state capitol.
A third Valley-area cyclist, Thurlow Rogers of Van Nuys, withdrew before the start of the event. A race spokesman said that Rogers was suffering from a combination of illness and injury.
Thomas Craven of Winston-Salem, N.C., placed first (4:34.55) in the race to determine the leader for today’s first official stage.
