Preliminary OK at Bethlehem: Officials of the United Steelworkers of America voted to grant preliminary approval to a new contract with Pittsburgh-based Bethlehem Steel Corp., the nation’s second-largest steelmaker, that would raise steelworkers’ wages at the company 8.09%. The agreement also calls for wage hikes in 1991 and 1992.
