Rare Red Wolf Gives Birth to Three Puppies in Texas
From Associated Press
GLEN ROSE, Tex. — A red wolf, the second-rarest mammal in the United States, gave birth to three puppies at a wildlife center.
If the puppies born Wednesday survive, they will be the first Texas-born red wolves since the mid-1970s, raising the total population to 92, said officials at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.
The black-footed ferret is the only mammal that is rarer in the United States.
