Hygienists Threaten Pac Bell: The 4,500-member California Dental Hygienists Assn. has threatened to go to court to block Pacific Bell’s plan to exclude hygienists from advertising in the Yellow Pages. A telephone company spokeswoman said the hygienists’ category would be eliminated from the next edition of Yellow Pages, following a complaint by an unnamed dentist. The dentist, she said, asserted that hygienists were required by law to work under supervision of licensed dentists and thus should not be listed. The spokeswoman said Pacific Bell had sought advice from the 14,000-member California Dental Assn. and the state Board of Dental Examiners before excluding the hygienists’ listing.
