The cameo appearence of Carson, a longtime friend of Newhart’s, comes after sidekick Ed McMahon made a surprise appearence on the show two weeks ago. On the upcoming show, Larry (Larry, brother to Darryl and Darryl) claims that he is Johnny’s close, personal friend, when suddenly Johnny pops in to settle the matter.
