HARRISBURG, Pa. — day after the frenzy, lottery officials waited for two computers to finish a mind-boggling search of wagered numbers before letting the world know if anyone won a record $100 million-plus jackpot, but 15 claimants stepped forward.
Reports circulated that 14 brick factory workers from Ohio were on their way to lottery headquarters in suburban Harrisburg to claim at least a share of the prize. Another unconfirmed report said a woman from southwestern Pennsylvania also believed she had a winning ticket from Wednesday’s drawing.
George Andersen, lottery deputy executive director, said that no winners had been confirmed and that it may be Friday before the computers will complete the detailed checking.
