A car crashed into a wall in Northridge early Monday, killing a 30-year-old Arleta man, Los Angeles police said.
Javier Salazar was driving his 1968 Volkswagen east on Nordhoff Street shortly after 3 a.m. when he swerved across the westbound lanes, over a sidewalk and into the wall just east of Encino Avenue, Officer Richard Neuenschwander said.
The car overturned, and Salazar was thrown through the front windshield, Neuenschwander said. Police said Salazar, who died at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, was not wearing a seat belt.
Cause of the crash was not known, although Salazar’s car was believed to have been traveling at high speed, the officer said.
