David Lowery of Trabuco Hills High School said Thursday he has signed a letter of intent to play football at San Diego State.
Lowery, 6-feet, 185 pounds, passed for 3,325 yards and 29 touchdowns in leading Trabuco Hills (12-2) to the Southern Section Division VIII championship.
Lowery also might play baseball for the Aztecs. As a third baseman/pitcher this season, Lowery is 6-1 with a .430 batting average, five home runs and 27 RBIs.
“They were going to offer me a scholarship next year, but they decided to offer me one now because of their quarterback situation,” said Lowery, who signed with the Aztecs April 1, the last day to sign national letters of intent for football.
