BANGKOK, Thailand — Work has started on a 500-room Holiday Inn in Ho Chi Minh City in a joint project with a Hong Kong-based firm, the official Vietnamese News Agency said.
VNA, in a dispatch received in Bangkok, said the hotel is being built by the Crystal Center Properties International of Hong Kong and the Tourist Bureau of Ho Chi Minh City.
The agency said part of the hotel, meant to relieve an acute shortage of rooms in the city (the former Saigon) as Vietnam expands tourism and foreign trade, is expected to be completed in 1990. It gave no further details.
