College Roundup : Lloyd, Ventura Hand Moorpark 3rd Consecutive Loss, 6-2

Darren Lloyd’s two-run double in the sixth inning snapped a 2-2 tie and lifted Ventura College to a 6-2 Western State Conference win over visiting Moorpark on Tuesday.
Moorpark also threatened in the sixth, but sophomore right-hander Shane Espitia struck out Dan Smith with the bases loaded and the Raiders came away scoreless.
Ventura added two runs in the seventh on a single, an error, David Eggert’s scoring fly ball and a wild pitch.
John Chiaramonte (5-3) gave up nine hits and five runs to suffer the loss as the Raiders (20-13, 9-7 in conference play) lost their third game in a row.
Espitia (6-2) gave up two runs and six hits to pick up the win for Ventura (25-8, 13-3).
