A burglar with an apparent taste for high fashion quickly made off with $30,000 in exclusive women’s clothing from a Newport Beach boutique Sunday morning, police said.
About 60 pieces of clothing, including custom-made jackets and and dresses, were taken from Stracci at 1028 Bayside Drive, Newport Beach Police Lt. Tim Riley said.
A silent alarm went off at 6:37 a.m. and police reponded within 4 minutes, Riley said. The first officer on the scene found the front glass door smashed, apparently with a sledgehammer, and the burglar gone.
The suspect “was in and out quickly,” Riley said. He said the store’s owner provided police with a list of the stolen clothing.
