Saddleback Game Suspended after Brawl
Saddleback College’s baseball game against Riverside was suspended in the ninth inning Thursday after a bench-clearing brawl that lasted approximately five minutes, according to Saddleback assistant coach Charley Phillips.
The fight started with two outs in the top of the ninth inning and Saddleback leading, 8-3, at Riverside.
The brawl began after Saddleback outfielder Justin Pysar was pushed to the ground after being tagged out in a rundown between first and second, Saddleback Coach Rich Rommel said.
Both benches cleared and Saddleback’s Larry Maddox punched Jackie Jempson, Phillips said.
Maddox, Jempson and a second Riverside player were ejected and the umpires suspended the game. All three players will be suspended for one game, Rommel said.
