Paul McGinley of U.S. International shot a 70 on the par-72 Willow Glen course at Singing Hills, and came back in the afternoon with another 70 on the par-71 Oak Glen course to win the individual championship of the San Diego Intercollegiate golf tournament. USD took the team title when Rick Schultz birdied the par-four 17th and par-five 18th at Oak Glen, giving USD a 592 total, one ahead of USIU.
MEN’S TENNIS
San Diego State defeated Nevada Las Vegas, 5-4, in the first round of the Weber State Invitational. Joe McDonough led the Aztecs (9-14), winning his 10th consecutive singles match with a 6-3, 7-5, victory over Eric Aanes at No. 1.
