Computer Scanner Firm Posts Gain for Quarter
Truvel Corp., a new producer of computerized scanners, reported a $302,000 profit for the fourth quarter compared with a year-earlier loss of $658,000.
The profit in the quarter that ended Dec. 31 came as the Chatsworth company’s sales soared to $2.98 million from $273,000 a year ago. For all of 1988, Truvel lost $1.53 million compared with a $1.57-million loss in 1987. Its annual sales surged to $6.6 million from $570,000.
Truvel’s machines electronically scan documents and objects, then transfer those images to a computer where they can be stored, altered or otherwise analyzed.
