Japan’s Chiba Wins Skiing Competition

NARUKOCHO, Japan — Japan’s Shinya Chiba won the overall championship Sunday in the Onikoube Cup ski race, the seventh leg in a series of 10 dual race meets on Japan’s professional circuit.
Chiba, who won the giant slalom Saturday but lost in the quarterfinals in the slalom Sunday, earned $12,000.
Georg Ager of Austria won the slalom Sunday and shared second overall with Marc Garcia of France and R. Fernsebner of Austria. Each received $4,000.
