Men’s Basketball : DeLaveaga Scores School-Record 51 in Cal Lutheran Win

Steve deLaveaga scored a school-record 51 points to lead Cal Lutheran to a 130-96 victory over Christ College of Irvine in a Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Cal Lutheran.
DeLaveaga made 20 of 30 field-goal attempts, including seven of 12 from three-point range, and also made four of six free throws.
The senior guard broke the mark he established last Saturday when he scored 48 points in a 135-128 triple-overtime loss to Point Loma Nazarene.
DeLaveaga, who has scored 2,524 points in his career at Cal Lutheran, reached the 2,500-point plateau with a three-point basket early in the second half.
Charles Jackson scored 19 points and Mike Demeter added 16 for Cal Lutheran (10-17, 4-9 in conference play). Christ College dropped to 4-25, 0-13.
The Master’s 115, West Coast Christian (Fresno) 18--West Coast Christian scored just five points--all on free throws--and failed to make a field goal in 12 attempts in the first half in an NAIA District 3 game at Master’s.
Master’s led, 61-5, at halftime. Overall, West Coast Christian made four of 31 field-goal attempts (13%). Master’s made 47 of 77 (61%).
Senior forward Phil Hahn and freshman forward Tom Bruner tied for scoring honors with 17 points for the Mustangs. Freshmen Matt Thomas and Jason Webster each contributed 14 points and senior Rocky Shipes added 10 for Master’s, which improved to 15-12, 5-9 in conference play.
