Bush’s Unveils Budget Plan

President Bush’s message before both houses of Congress (Part I, Feb. 10) left me feeling like the dead atheist in a funeral parlor--all dressed up and nowhere to go.
He spoke of the urgency of emphasizing science instruction in our schools. He became a science teacher demonstrating in front of our eyes a lesson in metamorphosis--changing from George Bush to Jimmy Carter.
His grandiose spending plans with no new taxes to pay the bills reminded me of the title of a song which was popular when I was much younger--”Your Lips Tell Me No, No, but There’s Yes, Yes in Your Eyes.”
I know conservatives. Some of my best friends are conservatives. Read my lips. You, George Bush, ain’t no conservative.
Ronald Reagan, where are you now that we need you?
