Fuji Failed to Walk in Customers’ Shoes

Regarding the Jan. 22 story, “Fuji Gets the Picture--It Won’t Open a Photo Lab”:
This is an excellent example of an often fatal business mistake; Fuji failed to look at its strategic move from its customers’ perspective. Cultivating awareness of the customers’ viewpoint is fundamental and too often neglected.
How did this happen to Fuji? My guess is that their executives never put the issue in proper focus in their management meetings. Unasked questions don’t get answered.
