Durocher Recovering From Injuries in Accident

Baseball legend Leo Durocher was in serious but stable condition Friday, recovering from head injuries suffered Wednesday morning in a Palm Springs traffic accident, authorities said.
Durocher, 83, the fiery manager who led both the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers into the World Series, suffered cuts on his head when his car struck another vehicle that suddenly turned in front of him, Detective Terry Robinson said.
“We don’t have the extent of injuries, just his condition,” Linda Riggs of Desert Hospital said. “That’s all that we’ve been allowed to release.”
The accident was blamed on the unidentified oncoming driver, who turned into Durocher’s path while trying to get into a residential driveway in the desert resort, Robinson said.
Both drivers were alone in their cars. The other driver also suffered injuries of an unspecified nature.
