WCAC Roundup : Gordon Leads Santa Clara Over Gonzaga, 69-55
Jens Gordon scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Santa Clara past Gonzaga, 69-55, Friday night in a West Coast Athletic Conference game at Santa Clara.
It was the 299th career win for Bronco Coach Carroll Williams.
Santa Clara is 14-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference. Gonzaga is 12-8 and 3-4.
Santa Clara took the lead for good with 7:19 remaining in the first half on two free throws by Jeffty Connelly. The Broncos led at halftime, 43-21.
Gonzaga was led by Doug Spradley, who had 15 points.
USF 81, Portland 61--Mark McCathrion and Kevin Ellis each scored 15 points to lead the Dons past the Pilots at San Francisco.
USF is 11-9 and 3-4, and Portland fell to 1-19 and 1-6.
USF led, 41-25, at halftime.
Ron Deaton led Portland with 14 points.
