Streaking Riverside to Visit Northridge
Cal State Northridge faces a considerable challenge tonight when it plays host to giant-killer UC Riverside in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s basketball game at 8:05.
Riverside (17-2), the top-ranked team in Division II, has won 13 in a row, including 6 conference games and a December victory over Iowa, which at the time was ranked fourth in Division I.
Maurice Pullum and Chris Ceballos are the Highlanders’ top scorers. Pullum, a guard, is averaging 18.4 points a game and leads CCAA players with 61 3-point baskets. Ceballos, a 6-6 forward, is averaging 14.3 points and is shooting better than 55%.
Northridge (12-7, 3-3 in CCAA play) should be bolstered by the return of center Todd Bowser.
Bowser, who is averaging 13.6 points and 7.9 rebounds, has missed CSUN’s past 2 games after suffering a badly bruised left hip.
