College Roundup : Chapman Women Surprise No. 16 Northridge

Guard Corine Sandry scored a game-high 22 points to lead Chapman College to a 69-59 upset over Cal State Northridge in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s basketball game Thursday at Northridge.
Center Christine Carroll added 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for Chapman (8-9 overall, 3-1 in CCAA play). Northridge, the 16th-ranked team in the nation in the Division II poll, shot 33%. Center Chris Cavalin scored 17 points and had 9 rebounds.
Northridge is 14-4, 2-1.
In Big West Conference women’s basketball:
UC Irvine 63, San Jose State 53--Kathy Lizarraga scored 22 points, and Natasha Parks scored 15 points and had 15 rebounds for host UC Irvine (5-11, 1-6). Shannon Unfred added 10 points for UC Irvine, which led, 31-20, at the half.
Teddi Johnson scored 15 points for San Jose State (3-14, 0-7).
In nonconference wrestling:
Cal State Fullerton 33, Humboldt State 2--Fullerton (10-6) won 8 of 10 matches and tied the others in the victory at San Francisco State. Erin Millsap scored a 20-3 victory at 118 pounds to improve to 26-4-2 for Fullerton. Fullerton heavyweight David Jones won a 6-4 decision to improve to 25-3-2.
Millsap is the 17th ranked wrestler in his weight class and Jones is No. 5 in the country.
Fullerton defeated San Francisco State, 45-2, earlier Thursday.
In the BYU women’s tennis tournament:
Kansas 8, UC Irvine 1--Stacey Cadigan defeated Suzie Berglund, 7-5, 7-5, for UC Irvine’s lone victory. The Anteaters are 1-1.
