In boys’ high school basketball:
Grossmont League 3-A
Helix 57, El Capitan 38--John Pressler scored 19 points and Andy Merideth added 18 to lead visiting Helix (13-5, 5-1). El Capitan, which trailed, 30-22, at halftime, is 7-13, 1-5.
Monte Vista 64, Mt. Miguel 53--Joe McNaull scored 26 points to lead visiting Monte Vista (10-4, 5-0), which rallied from a 24-21 halftime deficit. Shannon Lefever scored 29 points for Mt. Miguel (1-16, 0-6).
Grossmont League 2-A
Grossmont 83, El Cajon Valley 66--Kevin Simon scored 22 points and Todd Cady added 19 to lead visiting Grossmont (6-12, 2-2). Kenneth Davis scored 25 points from El Cajon Valley (2-14, 0-5).
Girls’ Basketball
Avocado League
Ramona 53, El Camino 17--Ramona (12-3, 6-2) led, 27-15, at halftime but held El Camino to just 2 points in the second half. Gina Tamburrino scored 22 points and Kris Miller added 14 for Ramona. El Camino is 3-9, 2-6.
Rancho Buena Vista 60, Carlsbad 38--Shana Edge had 19 points and Stephanie Howell added 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead visiting Rancho Buena Vista (12-7, 5-3). Carlsbad is 3-10, 2-6.
Oceanside 65, Escondido 33--Mildred Conston scored 20 points and Kecha Fowlkes added 17 to lead host Oceanside (14-6, 7-1). Escondido is 2-14, 0-8.
Grossmont League 3-A
Mt. Miguel 48, Monte Vista 38--Tonya Chamberlain scored 20 points to lead host Mt. Miguel (4-14, 2-4). Michelle Watkins had 13 for Monte Vista (4-15, 1-4).
Grossmont League 2-A
El Cajon Valley 52, Grossmont 36--Debbie Duhaney scored 21 points to lead host El Cajon Valley (8-8, 3-2). Grossmont (5-13, 0-4) got 12 points from Rachel Hodson.
Metro Conference
Hilltop 51, Southwest 49--Sara Floto scored 10 of her team-high 20 points during a 22-8 third-quarter run for host Hilltop (6-10, 4-6). Southwest (12-7, 7-3) got 32 points from Mesega Johnson.
Mar Vista 46, Marian 21--Dawn Houseman scored 13 points to lead visiting Mar Vista (9-9, 6-4). Marian is 2-15, 0-10.
Chula Vista 52, Sweetwater 40--Marcey Wolf scored 13 points as Chula Vista (11-9, 8-2) won at Sweetwater (3-12, 2-8).
Bonita Vista 53, Montgomery 44--Torril Purvis scored 20 points to lead Bonita Vista (16-5, 9-1). Host Montgomery fell to 5-12, 2-8 despite 22 points from Roxanne Shoaf.
Castle Park 49, Coronado 35--Christina Murgnia scored 13 points to lead Castle Park (16-5, 9-1). Julie Lochte scored 17 points for host Coronado (8-10, 3-7).
Palomar League
Poway 68, Orange Glen 48--Christy Fortney scored 20 points to lead visiting Poway (14-7, 6-1). Dawn Gigstad added 14 points and Cynde Gruchala had 11 for Poway, which led, 38-19, at halftime. Orange Glen is 5-13, 0-7.
Nonleague
Valhalla 37, Granite Hills 36--Janette Best scored 17 points to lead visiting Valhalla (4-12). Granite Hills is 7-10.
