Packaging giant Stone Container Corp. of Chicago said it plans to make a $2.2-billion cash takeover offer, or $21.20 a share, for all of the shares of the Canadian company Consolidated-Bathurst Inc. in a bid to penetrate the European forest products market. The holding company Power Corp. of Canada, Bouveries Investments Ltd. of London and the Kuwait Investment Office, which together hold about 65% of the common shares of Consolidated-Bathurst, have agreed to tender their stock.
