‘Palestine Needs a State, Too’

Klutznick’s column is a courageous one that demonstrates vision and reality. What makes this article remarkable is that it comes from an influential Jewish leader who is not afraid to speak. Times are changing and real politicians are those who recognize the changing times and read the writing on the wall. It certainly takes courage and foresight to take a stand against the majority and prod the Israelis to talk to the PLO.
The PLO is the sole representative of the Palestinian people and only the PLO can deliver peace on behalf of the Palestinians. Klutznick also recognizes the legitimate need for the Palestinians to have their own independent country. This need is the only one that stands between real peace and war in the unholy land.
Yes, I agree, Mr. Klutznick, this is the time to make peace. This is the time to talk. Let’s not waste another opportunity that we may regret in the future. Let’s not have weak politicians ruin peace with their myopic policies. Let’s pray that both Jews and Arabs fulfill their dreams of having two countries in one land. Two flags in the Holy Land.
