East County Yields Skeletal Remains
Authorities were examining skeletal remains of an unidentified person found Saturday in a rural area of eastern San Diego County.
The remains, including a skull and jaw bone, appear to have been in the area for as long as 12 months, said a spokesman for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Homicide detectives are investigating the matter, but officials declined to speculate on the cause of death or the individual’s identity. The coroner’s office is expected to examine the remains.
Two hunters discovered the bones about 1 p.m. in the Boulder Oaks area, west of Kitchen Creek Road and near Old Highway 80, the spokesman said.
