A San Fernando teen-ager has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a rival gang member in front of a Newhall store, authorities said Saturday.
Alphonso Tapia, 18, was arrested Friday on suspicion of killing Miguel Angel Jimenez, 15, said Deputy Dan Cox of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.
Jimenez was shot to death about 11 p.m. Friday during a confrontation between rival gangs in front of a closed liquor store in the 24300 block of San Fernando Road in Newhall, Cox said. He died shortly after being taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Cox said.
Tapia is being held without bail at County Jail, Cox said.
