HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE ROUNDUPS

The city of Los Angeles periodically sets up collection points for waste from many items used around the house--such as motor oil, cleaners with acids or lye, paint and paint thinner, turpentine, pesticides and herbicides. The first collection of the year is today, with others scheduled in the coming months. The wastes can be brought to collection points in parking lots of the locations listed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Dates in parentheses are alternate dates in case of heavy rains.

The only items not acceptable are explosives, ammunition and radioactive materials. If you have these types of wastes, the Department of Public Works offers information on disposal sites at (213) 237-1634 or (818) 989-8121.
