The California Highway Patrol on Wednesday was still investigating a motorcycle accident in which a Rancho Santa Fe man was killed when his bike hit a fence post.
Timothy House, 23, of the 14000 block of Via de la Valle, was going about 50 m.p.h. as he rounded a corner, heading west on San Dieguito Road, west of Calle del Nido, when he crashed about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. He was not wearing a helmet.
“We know what happened, but we don’t know why,” said CHP spokesman Jerry Bohrer.
House was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where he died of head injuries shortly after 7 p.m., hospital spokesman Mike Dabney said.
House had been working as a grounds maintenance man for the Rancho Santa Fe Polo Club and was test-riding a friend’s motorcycle after work, a spokeswoman for the club said.
