Local News in Brief : Five Injured as Van Rams Taco Stand
- Share via
Five people were injured, one of them critically, when a van plowed into a taco stand at Eight and Spring streets in downtown Los Angeles. Police said the van was traveling the wrong way on Eight, a one-way street, apparently while being pursued by another motorist.
Police said the chase was apparently triggered by a minor traffic accident a few blocks away when the van drove off pursued by the other car. Officers said the van had been traveling at a high rate of speed when it went out of control and into the open-front stand where a number of persons were seated.
Officers handcuffed one of the drivers and said he would be booked for suspicion of felony drunk driving.
