High School Basketball : Oakwood Romps Over Yeshiva Behind Butler
Senior guard Mitchell Butler scored a game-high 23 points to lead Oakwood to a 66-38 Liberty League victory over host Yeshiva.
Butler, who has scored more than 20 points in 5 consecutive games, scored 16 points in the first half as Oakwood jumped ahead, 34-15.
Butler also had 16 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the Gorillas in both categories. Center Jon Mark added 12 points for Oakwood (8-2, 2-0 in league play), winner of 2 in a row.
Eleven players scored for the Gorillas, who converted 16 of 25 free throws.
GIRLS
Oakwood 53, Providence 23--Senior center Capucine Rubin scored a game-high 22 points for Oakwood (6-2) and led rebounders with 23 in the nonleague game at Providence. Erin Farrell scored 10 points and was Oakwood’s only other player in double figures.
