U.S. Backs 2 Demoted Atomic Whistle-Blowers

ATLANTA — The rights of two workers were violated when they were demoted for insisting that Georgia Power Co. correct nuclear safety violations at Plant Vogtle, federal investigators found.
The Atlanta office of the U.S. Labor Department said Gary Yunker and John Fuchko were demoted in violation of federal laws protecting whistle-blowers. Both men filed complaints last month.
“We found the complaints were correct,” Richard Robinette, regional director of the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division, said Thursday.
