‘Willow’ Moving Out of the Pack
The sales records keep falling for the video release of “E. T.”--the figure’s at around 15 million as of now--but so too do the video’s rental chart rankings. This week, it’s down to No. 4. This rental chart’s success story is, instead, “Willow,” George Lucas’ big-buck sword-and-sorcery fantasy-adventure. Look for this one to unseat the “Beetlejuice”/”Three Men” duo at the No. 1 spot next week or the week after. “E. T.” is of course No. 1 on the sales chart, with the rest of the Top 10 devoted to Christmastime fare or non-movies.
* Movies like “Off Limits”--action-adventure tales geared toward young adults--traditionally do pretty well on video, but this one--starring Willem Dafoe (now seen in “Mississippi Burning”) and Gregory Hines--is getting stuck on the charts. This week it’s only up two places to No. 10.
