Girls’ Basketball Roundup : Capistrano Valley Wins, 84-34

Holly Anderson scored 41 points to lead Capistrano Valley High School to an 84-34 victory over Trabuco Hills Wednesday in a championship quarterfinal game of the Costa Mesa girls’ basketball tournament.
Lainie Spence added 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for Capistrano Valley (10-2), which plays Schurr at 6:20 tonight in a semifinal.
In other quarterfinals:
Schurr 45, Estancia 38--Patrice Lumpkin scored 14 points for Estancia, which plays Trabuco Hills in the consolation round at 3 p.m.
North Torrance 61, Costa Mesa 55--Kim Good scored 22 for Costa Mesa, which plays San Clemente at 4:40 today in the consolation round.
Montebello 53, San Clemente 43--Claudia Castro scored 19 for Montebello, which plays North Torrance in a championship semifinal tonight at 8:20 p.m.
In the Costa Mesa consolation quarterfinals:
Cypress 57, Laguna Hills 28--Erika Manning scored 15 points to lead the Centurions (8-5).
Tustin 49, Irvine 16--Wanda Sequiera scored 9 points to lead a balanced Tustin attack. Teresa Perkins, Tanya McQuire and DeeDee Anderson each scored 8 points for the Tillers (7-4). Danielle Rolston scored 7 points for Irvine (1-7).
Saddleback 51, Yucca Valley 37--Melody Mayfield scored 33 points to lead Saddleback (8-3).
In the Orange Glen tournament in Escondido:
Ontario 54, University 35--Dawn Baker scored 16 points to lead Ontario (10-1) to a semifinal victory. Shelley Davis scored 12 for University (8-3). University plays for third place today at 2 p.m.
In nonleague girls’ basketball:
Western 62, Mayfair 43--Jill Salazar scored 12 points, had 11 rebounds, 10 steals and 8 assists for host Western. Vicki Evans scored 22 points and Dena Petersen 16 for Western.
