In Brief : Injury May Again Sideline Tim Kerr

PHILADELPHIA — An injury to Tim Kerr’s left shoulder is worse than the Philadelphia Flyers initially believed and may sideline him for a week to 10 days, Kerr said.

Kerr, the Flyers’ leading scorer with 27 goals and 21 assists, has already had five operations on the shoulder. His injuries caused him to miss all but eight games last season.

The Flyers sent Kerr home Wednesday to be examined by John Gregg, the club’s orthopedic surgeon. After an examination Wednesday night, Kerr said the doctor told him he had a mild sprain and a stretched muscle.

Kerr said he felt a chill run through his left shoulder during the second period of the team’s 4-3 loss to Washington Tuesday night. He played sparingly in the third period.
