Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : Citizen Group Files Suit Against Drilling Plan
- Share via
Angus Petroleum Corp.’s plans to consolidate oil drilling in Huntington Beach on a 3-acre tract violate deed restrictions on that property, a lawsuit claims.
The restrictions on the parcel run to 2010, blocking the drilling plan, according to the Concerned Citizens for Huntington Beach, a group of residents that has steadfastly opposed the controversial project.
The Orange County Superior Court lawsuit filed Thursday also alleged that the City Council’s approval of Angus’ plan Nov. 21 is void because it violates the city’s General Plan and was approved after inadequate environmental study.
Angus won approval of its plan to consolidate several dozen existing wells scattered throughout the city on one site near the intersection of Springfield Avenue and California Street.
