Fire Destroys Southland Homes

As I read an article on the fires (Part I, Dec. 10), I am amazed to discover that Baldwin Park is a barrio.
Hilton Hotel officials must be in a state of shock to find out they are currently building a hotel in a barrio, instead of the growing, developing community that Baldwin Park really is. There are modest homes here, as well as many beautiful homes, and we have a beautiful new shopping center. We have the same problems other cities have, but we are not a barrio.
