Monarchy

I protest! The monarchy system in the United States didn’t die in 1776, it’s alive and kicking in our so-called democratic republic in 1988. Yes, we vote, but all we do is exchange one monarch for another.
When the Secret Service can order 60 hotel rooms for King George and the royal Bush court for a three-day Texas quail-hunt outing, and when newsmen, reserving 88 rooms in the community for what they have the idiotic audacity to call a “historic event,” I say it is time for Paul Revere to ride again (Part I, Dec. 12).
With a record national deficit, people sleeping in the streets, horrendous medical and health problems and bank failings, we need royal quail hunts like we need another depression. Are we indeed a nation of sheep?
