Police Shot Wounds Youth Carrying Gun
A youth carrying an apparently unloaded handgun was shot and wounded Saturday by a police officer after the young man allegedly pointed his weapon at another officer, police said.
Juan Arellano, 18, was in satisfactory condition with a neck wound in the jail ward at County-USC Medical Center, Deputy R. McCreary said.
Arellano was booked for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, authorities said.
He was shot after officers and police dogs converged on a residence in South-Central Los Angeles where neighbors had reported seeing a gunman, said Officer Gilbert Ortiz.
