The ninth and last allotted desert bighorn sheep of the controversial hunt in the eastern Mojave Desert was taken by Scott Young, despite the attempted interference of several anti-hunting activists.
According to Loren Lutz, president of the Society for the Conservation of Bighorn Sheep, the ram was unusually old at 12 years, and its horns rated 169 7/8 points, the highest trophy count achieved in the 2 years of the limited hunt.
