Toler’s 22 Points Lead Long Beach Women to Victory

Guard Penny Toler, hitting 9 of 14 shots, finished with 22 points to lead the Cal State Long Beach women’s basketball team to a 94-62 victory over UC Santa Barbara Thursday night at Long Beach.
The win, in the Big West Conference opener for both teams, improved the 49ers’ overall mark to 3-2; the Gauchos dropped to 2-3.
Long Beach decided the outcome in the first 20 minutes, making 21 of 39 shots while building a 50-24 lead.
Toler got scoring help from Traci Waites, with 16 points, and Shamell Coleman, with 14. Kira Anthofer had 19 points and Barbara Beainy 18 for UCSB.
