David G. Houston, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s regional director in Sacramento, has resigned, effective Jan. 7, and will work in the private sector. Interior Secretary Donald P. Hodel praised Houston for his efforts on such controversial projects as the Kesterson Reservoir cleanup and the litigation involving the Westlands Water District. Hodel credited Houston for his “outstanding management abilities and a strong track record in solving some of the department’s major reclamation problems.”
