Although its “Raising Miranda” and “The Van Dyke Show” series were canceled by CBS this week, GTG Entertainment said Thursday that it intendes to forge ahead with a second year of the critically panned syndicated magazine, “USA Today: The Television Show.” Bob Jacobs, president of the company’s marketing division, said GTG was encouraged both by creative improvements in the show and by what he said was a 20% ratings boost in Nielsen’s metered markets the last few weeks. He noted that the majority of 158 stations that signed up to carry the series had committed to two-year contracts. Currently seen in Los Angeles on KCBS-TV Channel 2, “USA Today” is scheduled to move Jan. 9 to KNBC-TV Channel 4.
