ATLANTA — A mail carrier resumed his rounds with a police escort Wednesday after nearly being caught last week in a drug-related shootout that caused the Postal Service to suspend deliveries in the neighborhood.
Thomas Oliver delivered the mail in the Bankhead Courts housing development with a police officer at his side and a police car trailing behind them.
The Post Office had suspended service after the shootout Saturday, but deliveries were resumed after postal authorities conferred with city officials.
