SACRAMENTO — California Atty. Gen John K. Van de Kamp said Wednesday that he will seek legislation next year that will prohibit people caught cultivating 10 or more marijuana plants from being sentenced to drug treatment or diversion programs.

Van de Kamp, who six years ago organized the Campaign Against Marijuana Planting--a statewide network representing about 100 law enforcement agencies--said the program has been so successful that the price of marijuana has doubled in California.
