Fowler D. Jones, 91; Longtime L.A. Official

Fowler D. Jones, the city’s first legislative analyst when that position was created in 1949, died Thursday in a Los Angeles convalescent home. He was 91 and had retired in 1967 after 42 years of municipal service.
He started with the Harbor Department and later served in the Bureau of Budget and Efficiency, becoming director of the bureau during the reform administration of Mayor Fletcher Bowron.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma, and a daughter.
