Local News in Brief : Caution Urged Near Work on Freeways
- Share via
Caltrans appealed Monday for the public to use caution while driving through freeway construction areas, especially during the holiday season.
Department of Transportation and law-enforcement officials said at a news conference that they are particularly concerned about work crews assigned to night repaving work on the Hollywood Freeway.
Officials will be distributing brochures in Hollywood urging drivers to be courteous and patient while traveling along a 4-mile stretch of the freeway between Highland Avenue and Figueroa Street. The work is scheduled for completion by April, 1989.
Since 1972, 53 Caltrans employees have been killed statewide while performing construction and maintenance work, according to Jerry Baxter, director of the Caltran’s District 7.
